About Mending Communities

Founded in April 2024, Mending Communities is a restorative justice-centered organization committed to mending harm and rebuilding relationships through peace circles, continuing education, and community-focused programming. While we serve schools, businesses, and families, our primary focus is supporting incarcerated and formerly incarcerated adults and children, offering them trauma-informed, culturally rooted tools for healing and reintegration. We also provide accredited continuing education (CE) and professional development courses for professionals and organizations seeking to maintain licensure, funding, professional development or accreditation.

Our Approach

Supporting Your Well-being

Our approach emphasizes the principles of restorative justice, empathy, and collective empowerment. By creating safe and supportive environments for dialogue, Mending Communities empowers participants to address underlying conflicts, navigate differences, and forge meaningful connections. From corporate boardrooms to school classrooms, our peace circle sessions equip individuals with the skills and mindset needed to cultivate positive relationships and foster a sense of belonging.

Our Mission

To restore dignity, connection, and healing by creating trauma-informed, restorative spaces for justice-impacted individuals and the communities that support them—using peace circles and education as pathways to empathy, accountability, and collective transformation.

Journey

Impact

Mending Communities is dedicated to catalyzing positive change and fostering resilience within communities. By providing innovative and accessible peace circle programs, we aim to mend relationships, reduce conflict, and promote a culture of trust and cooperation. Through our partnerships with companies, educational institutions, and community organizations, we strive to create lasting impact and inspire a ripple effect of healing and transformation.

Mending Communities is shifting the narrative around harm and healing. Our work:

  • Reduces recidivism by equipping people with community, tools, and purpose.

  • Supports professionals and institutions in maintaining ethical, inclusive practices.

  • Helps schools and businesses navigate conflict through connection.

  • Brings visibility to marginalized voices, particularly within the criminal legal and healthcare systems.

Future

In the years ahead, Mending Communities aims to:

  • Expand our CEU catalog and develop a subscription model for organizations needing consistent staff training.

  • Open a Restorative Justice Center offering literacy tutoring, college prep, reentry support, tech training for elders, and peace circles.

  • Partner with institutions of higher learning to co-sponsor CEUs.

  • Serve as a national hub for community-based restorative justice education and reintegration.

Our Ultimate Goal...

Mending Communities stands at the forefront of a movement to transform conflicts into opportunities for growth, understanding, and reconciliation. With a steadfast commitment to our mission and values, we are poised to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals, organizations, and communities worldwide. Together, we can mend relationships, build bridges, and create a future where empathy, collaboration, and healing thrive.
